The web site provides links to the most up to date versions of the World Bank Group Environmental, Health, and Safety Guidelines (EHS). The World Bank Group requires borrowers/clients to apply the relevant levels or measures of the EHS Guidelines. The General EHS Guidelines contain information on cross-cutting environmental, health, and safety issues potentially applicable to all industry sectors and should be used together with the relevant Industry Sector Guideline(s).

The EHS Guidelines are technical reference documents with general and industry-specific examples of Good International Industry Practice (GIIP) and include information relevant to (i) air quality; (ii) water quality; (iii) waste management; and (iv) chemical hazards. The guidelines are available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Why this Tool/Guidance?

Information provided is useful to support environmental and public health decision making in relation to funding a project through the World Bank. It supports effective management of environmental, health, and safety issues at both government and corporate levels.
